Gal Oya Lodge is a unique ecolodge located on 20 acres of private jungle, near the Gal Oya National Park. Gal Oya National Park remains peacefully, untouched by the hand of man. It is one of Sri Lanka’s hidden gems, yet to be explored. Distinct from other Sri Lankan protected areas, Gal Oya encompasses the country’s largest inland body of water, the Senanayake Samudraya Lake. Over 25,000 hectares of lush evergreen forest and open savannahs thrive around the calm waters.

Community
Sri Lankan culture and tradition are the inspirational elements at the heart of Gal Oya Lodge. Their bungalows draw their character from rural Sri Lankan villages, created using local techniques, tried and tested over time. Their tables and chairs are handmade by local village craftsmen using teak and mara wood, applying traditional skills passed down from generation to generation.

Environment
Their enhanced Sri Lankan ecolodge concept follows environmentally sound practices including recycling, energy conservation, growing their own produce and using sustainable materials whenever they can. They have recently installed a wildlife training and research facility to work with local conservation organizations and to help protect wildlife.
