Casa Calateas is a rural Lodge in the lush hills above Cahuita National Park in the peacful community of Carbón Dos. It's run by ASODECC, an association of rural farmers who help to manage the private, 84-hectare reserve with secondary and primary forests of tremendous biodiversity and spectacular beauty. They offer food, housing and tours, and endeavor to offer friendly, personalized attention that guarantees visitors an enjoyable and enriching experience. Casa Calateas is part of a dream being built by ASODECC, which aims to improve the quality of life of locals through environmental conservation and sustainable production.

Getting There

Transport options

Drive and Get picked up (extra $)
Take the coastal road to the town of Cahuita. Three kilometers sout of the main entrance to Cahuita town and one kilometer before the entrance to the Puerto Vargas section of Cahuita National Park, there is a bus stop and a gravel road heading uphill to the right. After about 3.5 Kilometers you will see a sign for Casa Calateas. Turn right and go about 800 meters more to get to the lodge. Four wheel drive is seasonally needed.
