Flexible Departure Date
All year

Make your way to La Leona's outpost in Carate where you can drop your bags with their team (they'll be carried on horse cart to the lodge). Then enjoy a 3 km walk along stunning coastline to reach the Lodge. The rest of the day is free to relax on the beach, swing in a hammock or grab a drink at the bar. Dinner will be prepared in the evening and spend the night in your ocean-side tent cabin.

After an early breakfast, meet your guide and head out into Corcovado National Park! You'll hike the trail over the Madrigal river, through the Cementerio, Paraíso and past El Barco. This forest trail runs mostly close to the beach. It is completely flat and you only have to cross one river and several small streams. The biggest part of the trail is in secondary rain forest and you can see primary rain forest in the neighboring mountains.

You can admire Kapok Trees (one of the highest tree one on the Osa Peninsula), Matapalo, Naked Indian, Balsa, or Jobo trees (Hog Plums) and several species of medicinal plants. Generally you have the chance of spotting monkeys, ant eaters, Scarlet Macaws, White Nosed Coatis, Tayras, Mountain Deer, and a great variety of birds like Hummingbirds, Guans, Currasows, Trogons, Tanagers, Herons, and Falcons just to name a few. With luck, you'll catch a glimpse of a puma, tapir or a sloth.

After a full day of hiking, you'll return to La Leona to relax, eat dinner and enjoy a peaceful night of sleep with the sound of the waves crashing outside.

After breakfast, soak up the amazing views and make your way back along the beach to Carate at your leisure.
