At the Port of Veracruz, you need to get to the bus central station and take the ADO bus to Acayucan. You will be picked up by your host to take you to the municipality of Soteapan, in the South of Los Tuxtlas Natural reserve.
At about midday, arrival to Jomxuk, a community ecotourism center managed by a Popoluca indigenous cooperative. You will be welcomed with a glass of fresh pineapple water and will have some time to settle in. Afterwards, you will enjoy a walk along a path of medicinal plants, where Don Aciano will tell you about the ancient and traditional uses of these plants, as well as their properties.
Traditional meal (included) made with local fresh ingredients. You will taste regional products that have been locally grown using traditional techniques.
Afterwards, visit to the village of Tatahuicapan de Juarez and the community of Encino Amarillo, to visit a craftswomen’s cooperative who also work in herbal medicine.
In the evening, at about 6:30 pm, return to Jomxuk to have a rest and relax with the sound of the river. Popoluca purification ritual and dinner (included).
We recommend that you wake up early today to enjoy the lower temperatures in the morning from the wonderful suspension bridge, to walk through the top of the trees and enjoy the panoramic view of the Santa Marta Mountains.
Breakfast (included) with the cooperative, where the corn is the main protagonist of their culinary delights.
Later, you will depart towards Benito Juarez: a cooperative immersed in the green and fertile jungle of Los Tuxtlas, by the beautiful Catemaco Lake.
Trekking where you will be able to see lovely enchanted waterfalls. A circuit along several natural bodies of water that will allow us to enjoy nature from a different perspective. Time off for a swim and enjoy the surroundings.
Regional meal of fresh fish (included). Time off to relax and enjoy the tranquility of this spot with magnificent views.
In the afternoon/evening you will participate in a fun handicraft workshop, where you will learn to make earrings and bracelets out of natural seeds, tutored by your hosts.
Rest in a lovely ecolodge (private bathroom) of this rural community. (Dinner included).
Breakfast (included) and departure to the village of Sontecomapan.
Arrival to Los Amigos ranch, a spot amidst nature, ideal to rest and switch off from your daily routine. A paradise in Los Tuxtlas that can only be reached by boat. There is no cellphone coverage, so this allows for a totally stress-free stay.
Time off to settle in, put your bathing suit on, and leave for a lovely, unspoilt beach, where you will be able to enjoy a fresh grilled pompano (known as “la crème de la crème” of the fish). (Meal not included).
Time off to enjoy the beach and have an afternoon nap on a hammock.
At about 4pm, back to Los Amigos. You will be able to kayak between mangroves, with the kayaks you will have at your disposal.
In the evening, there is a small workshop to learn to make tortillas and enjoy a delicious and healthy dinner (included).
Early yoga session. Breakfast (included), and afterwards, you will be picked up to go back to Port of Veracruz. On your way, you will have the chance to visit picturesque little towns of this green region.
We will stop first at a small cigar factory, as this region is well known for the quality of its tobacco leaves. Afterwards, we will visit the lovely town of Santiago Tuxtla, where we will be able to appreciate a fabulous carved stone Olmec head from the central park.
Lastly, we will visit the pearl of the Papaloapan river, the colorful town of Tlacotalpan, where you will have time to take a walk and explore the town and try their delicious cuisine (meal not included).
