A Unique Story

The Uakari lodge is managed by Mamirauá Institute for Institute for Sustainable Development and the local communities. Mamirauá Institute is a social organization that is organized and supervised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Their main tasks are to promote the conservation of natural resources in the area, to promote conservation of the natural resources in the area, to provide income for local communities and strengthen their organization.

Uakari Lodge is a community based tourism initiative and by staying with them you contribute to supporting community development projects. In addition, most of the employees of Uakari Lodge are from the riverine communities. Uakari Lodge consists of several sustainable floating bungalows which perfectly adapts to both the rainy seasons and dry seasons. The bungalows are powered by solar energy and rain water is collected and kept. The tiles they use for the flooring was made using recycled PET bottles. Their food is also made using seasonal and local ingredients. In addition, Uakari Lodge creates activities that promote the conservation of natural resources in the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve.
