Background

Deep Community Connections

Pacuare River Lodge supports their local school in the underdeveloped mountain town of Bajo De Tigre.  By donating time and materials, they have helped paint the school,  remodel the bathrooms, tile the main area and put on community events. They continue to support and build their relationship with this community as the lodge grows. The lodge also maintains a strong connection the indigenous people, the Cabecar Indians.  Optional hikes from the lodge take travelers to the Cabecar community to bring them useful items such as cloths, rice and beans in return for a visit to their land. The cross-cultural exchange is a powerful experience for both parties and is of upmost importance to Pacuare River Lodge.

Active Environmental Stewardship

Pacuare River Lodge is commited to sustainable business practices and is environmentally concious in their lodge operations. The lodge operates on solar power and recycles/resuses the bulk of their on-property waste.

They have also worked diligently to reforest a 15 acre property in Chitaria with about 3,300 trees. These trees were donated by the forest service and local electric company in a joint community effort to better the local environment.

Location

Pacuare River Lodge is nestled along the Pacuare River and is only accessible via raft. You will take an exciting white water trip into and out of the lodge!
