A Unique Story

The Hostel Casa La Granadilla is the tourism project of the Heroes and Martyrs of Nandaime cooperative, founded in 1981. It is traditionally dedicated to the cultivation of beans and other grains, along with other products such as bananas, cassava, fruit and livestock. Since 2001 the cooperative is part of Rural Community Tourism Program of the UCA Land and Water. The house was built to provide a place to hold meetings of the cooperative, since until then gathered under a tree Chilamate. It has accommodated a library for students and offers accommodation for tourists. In addition, a group of women produce handmade soaps.

Since the end of 2010 , the Hostel Casa La Granadilla is part of Program Best Management Practices for Sustainable Tourism Rainforest Alliance , and has been verified by this organization to meet more than 50% of Global Sustainability Criteria.
