A Unique Story

The Ixiim Cooking School offers daily and weekly classes to teach travelers traditional Guatemalan cooking. They help to preserve traditional cooking techniques and provide opportunities for local women in the small village of San Pedro la Laguna.

Community Connection

Though many local women have studied to be teachers, they are often unable to find a job in local schools. At Ixiim they find fair employment and get certifications from the INGUAT in customer quality service, events organization, etc. In the school they learn about HACCP and they receive english lessons.

Ixiim also collaborates with NGOs in San Pedro La Laguna in an effort to improve the quality of life of those that are most impoverished and facing great hardships.

Each cooking class offers a great opportunity for cultural exchange and helps to preserve local cooking traditions.
