A Unique Story

Saladero is more than just an ecolodge, it is also the home of Harvey and Susan Woodard. They welcome you as guests in this magical and pristine part of Costa Rica.
Finca Saladero is an environmentally sensitive 480 acre private preserve set in the undeveloped Golfo Dulce and the seldom visited Piedras Blancas National Park. It includes ½ mile of coastline on the Golfo Dulce, 30 acres of gardens and 465 acres of primary rainforest. Established in harmony with the natural environment, their goal is to provide to travelers seeking a unique location and experience, the opportunity to observe wildlife and natural wonders in a pristine and sustainable fashion while enjoying the comfortable and spacious accommodations.

Community Connection

The Saladero team takes many steps to provide benefits to the Golfito community, including:

  • employ local Costa Rican staff from improvished areas nearby
  • Providing English classes and sustainability training for employees
  • Selling local Costa Rican artwork and handicrafts of indigenous tribes to benefit them directly.
  • Direct financial support to the park service of Piedras National Park by providing camping area and facilities when working in our area.
  • Invite guests to interact with our employees and their families to learn about the people and culture.

Environmental Engagement

In addition to helping preserve their 480 acre private reserve, Saladero also supports many conservation projects, including participation in the Osa Conservation Cat Monitoring Program and the Rio Saludables Program as well as support for the Center for Study of Dolphins and Whales.

The Saladero team will work with you to arrange your private boat transfer to / from the lodge. You can get picked up directly from the Puerto Jimenez airport if you fly in.
