Why Lokal Recommends You Khin House

Background

Nonprofit started in 2006| Locally Owned with 100% local staff

A Unique Story

Mrs. Muoy You and her late husband founded Seametrey Organisation in 1990, based on the strong belief that children are the driving force of a society and that Cambodia has to invest in its children’s education to be able to build a strong foundation for the economic and moral development of the country. Mrs. You is Montessori qualified, holds a Ph.D. degree in French literature and has taught students at all levels from nursery to university for over thirty years in Cambodia and overseas.

Community Connection

The revenue from You Khin House directly support it’s parent NGO Seametrey (seametreycambodia.org/) which provides free and reduced cost education to Cambodian children.

The schools are offering access to education for over 100 poor Cambodian children. Additionally, most staff at You Khin don’t have formal backgrounds in hospitality but are given on-the-job training and housing as needed.

Culture

The schools operate under a policy of social and cultural integration where rich and poor students learn side-by-side. International volunteers and visitors can also visit/participate in projects.
