Join the Villalobos family on a canoe trip into their private lagoon, set amidst primary rainforest. You'll hike through a jungle trail on the family's property to reach the lagoon. Then you'll push off for a paddle (helping if you'd like) down a peaceful river. You are sure to see amazing bird life and exotic plants on the journey.
By joining this tour, you help the Villalobos family and the local cooperative protect over 4,000 acres of primary rainforest!
Arrive at the Laguna Chocuaco lodge in Rancho Quemado and meet Carlos and his sister Mayra. You will be greeted with fresh juice before heading off on a 1.5 mile flat hike through the jungle where Carlos will explain about the flora and fauna of the region. At the end of the short hike you will reach a private lagoon where you will embark on a 2 hour canoeing adventure full of amazing scenery and up to 13 different species of birds. After the relaxing canoe ride you will make your way back to the lodge, not before tasting some unique Osa fruits like the sweet lemon and caju. At the lodge you will be greeted by a small 'refrigerio' - a fresh juice and a snack like Mayra's famous cheese sticks and some local fruits before heading off to your next destination.
