Corcovado Hike 'El Tigre'

Dos Brazos, Costa Rica

Corcovado Hike 'El Tigre'

Hike the crown jewel (or golden nugget!) of Dos Brazos, the new Sendero El Tigre, a 7km medium-high difficulty trail which enters a remote part of Corcovado National Park for 2.5km. In addition to pristine rainforest and wildlfie, you'll get a glimpse into indigenous history as your guide points out artifacts that have been left by long lost tribes. Speculate on the uses of a perfectly smoothed stone and other rudimentary tools as you encounter them along the trail.

Take advantage of an early start to experience the forest waking up. Listen to the symphony song of forest birds and insects while taking in views of the Golfo Dulce, one of only four tropical fjords in the world. Birds calling, parrots squawking and reptiles galore. Will you also be hawk-eyed enough to spot some of the rainforests four species of monkey or it's other spectacular mammals; a Coati, Sloth or Anteater?

This hike is a great opportunity for visitors to support protection for the National Park and surrounding Forest Reserve. All income from the trail is reinvested directly back into projects of the local community Association that is dedicated to conservation and development.

A great hike with a fantastic enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and patient guide

This was a great hike. Our guide Jose was incredibly knowledgeable, not just about the wildlife and plants, but also the local culture and society. The hike was strenuous but well within our capability . I suspect that José tailors the trek to his audiences interests and abilities. I would advise anyone doing it to wear stout boots and take plenty of water as recommended. José brought a scope along so we could see birds and animals in the bush. He was very good at taking photos and videos through the scope with my phone so I got some great close ups of many of the birds. You can hike around Dos Brazos by yourself (and we did) but this tour was well worth the money. We took the lunch option which was a tasty casada wrapped in a banana leaf, with some fresh starfruit juice.
