Epic Osa Peninsula Rainforest Adventure

We'll pick you up from the Puerto Jimenez airport and get you settled in at a family-run lodge just outside of town. Take a dip in the pool and enjoy the sounds of the rainforest. Once the group arrives, we'll enjoy our first Tico dinner together!

Our first stop will be the Dos Brazos community, where we will hike for about 1.5 hours through stunning rainforest to reach Xiña's farm and cabin. We'll try some tropical fruits, enjoy lunch together and take in the stunning views. The afternoon is open to hike to a waterfall, explore more of her farm, or simply relax in a hammock in the middle of the jungle. We will spend the night at Xiña's rustic cabin in the rainforest! No electricity, only nature.

Awake to the sounds of the rainforest! After breakfast, we'll meet up with a local guide and head out for an exciting 7 km hike through Corcovado National Park. The El Tigre trail is one if the less traversed parts of Corcovado and was only created 2 years ago. On this hike you have the opportunity to see scarlet macaws, toucans, different reptiles, wild boars, coatis, sloths and if you're lucky tapirs and/or a jungle cat! After the hike we will make our way to an ecolodge for dinner and optional massages.

We're off to see the little-visited interior of the Osa to experience local life alongside the Rancho Quemado community. We'll join Juan Cubillo for an artisanal gold mining tour, and in the afternoon you'll have the choice to either check out Johnny's local trapiche (sugar cane mill) and learn how to make artisanal sugar treats, or hike through a different part of the Osa jungle for a few hours. At the end of the day, Alice will welcome us to her family's Rancho Verde lodge for a home-cooked meal and a comfy place to rest your head!

In the morning, Rancho local Carlos Villalobos will take us out canoeing on his family's private rainforest lagoon. We'll see amazing bird life and contribute to their efforts to preserve over 1,000 acres of rainforest! After lunch, we'll hit the road (crossing a river or two) to reach Cascada Naguala, a pristine set of waterfalls, swimming holes, and a sustainable eco-lodge which we will hike 30 minutes to get to. Choose to take an afternoon dip in the water or relax up by the lodge. We will eat a delicious home cooked meal and spend the night immersed in the natural beauty of the jungle!

We will have a leisurely morning, choose to practice yoga on a platform or hike to a different set of spectacular waterfalls and swimming hole. Maybe choose to do both! For lunch, we'll make our way to Bella Vista Ecolodge. Take in the incredible views from our hill top lodge as our host (and incredible chef) will prepare an amazing meal for us which will probably include fresh ceviche! If you want to learn some Tico cooking techniques, feel free to join him in the kitchen. After lunch we will embark on an afternoon horseback ride to San Josecito beach where we will swim in the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean and take in a gorgeous sunset. Dinner and overnight back at Bella Vista.

Swim with sea turtles, eels, manta rays, and hundreds of species of fish. Today you will discover the abundant marine life that helps make the Osa Peninsula the most biologically intense place on Earth. We will spend the morning exploring multiple reefs around Isla del Caño which includes a 45 minute boat ride where we might spot dolphins and whales. After the snorkel adventure we will head back to the mainland for a picnic lunch. The afternoon is open for you to explore the Bella Vista property, head down to Rincon Beach for an afternoon swim, or if you are feeling high octane zip line through the jungle. Celebratory goodbye dinner at Bella Vista followed by an optional night hike.

All great things must come to an end! We'll drop you off at the Drake Bay airport (or wherever you need to go) so you can head out for your next adventure!

If you just can't get enough rainforest or you are desperate to see a puma, then this option may be for you! We'll arrange a local naturalist guide to accompany you on an epic trek through the national park. You'll stay overnight camp-style at the Sirena Ranger Station in the heart of Corcovado. Then you'll trek 20km through the park out to Carate where you'll find a stunning beach-side eco lodge to rest your tired legs. We can't guarantee a puma sighting, but this experience is another great opportunity at seeing some of the Osa's most beautiful and rare wildlife!
