Enjoy the day in Antigua at your leisure. Antigua is extremely walkable and offers great culinary options, good shopping, and many small ruins to visit. Make sure to get a good night sleep and pack the essentials in preparartion for your journey to Huehuetenango the following day.
Prepare for a long day of travel (358 Kms) through the Guatemalan highlands. We will begin our journey at 4am, the hotel will prepare a box breakfast to go. At around noon we will stop to have lunch and will continue driving to the Candelaria Cenotes for an afternoon of swimming and optional snorkeling. We will set up our campsite and will have dinner together under the stars.
After a well deserved rest, we will begin our day with breakfast at your desired time and then head off to explore the cenotes. Before noon we will continue our journey to our next destination, Finca Chaculá for lunch. After lunch we will have the option of going on a 3 hour long trek or be more mellow and enjoy the campsite and natural surroundings. In the evening we will enjoy a campfire dinner and admire the starry skies.
Today we will explore the natural wonder of El Cimarrón, a formation that is 170 m in diameter and has a fully thriving forest in the middle. We will eat our 3 meals at your lesiure, and will have plenty of time to explore the surroundings of this incredible chasm.
We will wake up to an early breakfast, then head to Laguna Brava where we will cross the lagoon in a row boat. Afterwards we will continue one hour to the Yolnabaj Cenotes. Once we arrive we will take a tour of the three Cenotes and enjoy a swim. We will spend the evening relaxing by the bonfire.
After an early breakfast we will begin our journey to Lake Atitlán (308 Kms). We will have lunch en route and upon arrival will have the opportunity to explore the picturesque and colorful alleys of Santa Catarina Palopó. This village is the first to be included in an initiative of transforming communities through textile inspired art around the lake. Free evening.
