Xochimilco Floating Gardens, Canals and Local Food

Our group of six learned a lot about the history and culture in this unique area, and we appreciated how the tour was organized. It was easy to communicate with the organizer so we knew where to meet at the beginning, and the refreshments provided (cafe, juice, tamales and guacamole) were a nice bonus. We recommend this tour highly!

Saida and Ricardo led a charming and informative tour of The Chinampas of Xochimilco. The tour began with a discussion of pre-Columbian history and brought us up to the work going on today to sustain the chinampas. We were served locally sourced food on the trajinera along with a tamarind drink and Mexican coffee. We also made a stop at a small conservation center where they are breeding and protecting a native, endangered salamander- the axolotl. This was a unique experience that left us with a deeper understanding of Mexico City’s past and present. B & J

My family, including my two daughters who are 7 and 11, had the most amazing day. Paulina was an exceptional guide and taught us so much. We had an unforgettable experience and are leaving feeling so inspired about supporting local agriculture and local farmers.
