Family Business started in 2012| Locally Owned with 100% local staff
In 1846, her Great-Grandfather “Soohong” moved to Chiang Mai from southern China. He married her Great-Grandmother “Khammoon” (of the local Tailu ethnic group) in 1854. That was the same year that he built the large teak house that is still the main building of Tanita House today.
Tanita House is a proud family-owned business with direct ties to the local community.
Tanita House is full of beautifully maintained recycled, reclaimed and 'pre-loved' materials. The family specifically seeks out these materials for everything they build.
The family home has been in the same spot for over 150 years, saving a piece of the old Chiang Mai. They also actively construct traditional teak wood homes using reclaimed materials and deal in local antiques.
