Experience the rich tapestry of Peruvian agrarian life with a local family deeply embedded in the coffee or cacao trade. Situated in the verdant jungles surrounding Cusco, your hosts are part of a distinguished local cooperative dedicated to sustainable agriculture. Immerse yourself in the intricate processes behind coffee or cacao production, offering a hands-on experience from bean to brew or pod to bar.
In addition to the central focus on coffee and cacao, the experience extends to traditional farming practices still revered by these families. Engage in the ethical rearing of free-range livestock like guinea pigs and chickens, and explore a diverse range of indigenous tropical flora including root vegetables, mango, papaya, and the culturally significant coca plant.
Flexible scheduling allows for either a day-long adventure sans accommodation or a more extensive multi-day expedition culminating in a visit to the iconic Machu Picchu. For those opting for an overnight stay, a private room on the farm serves as your sanctuary, allowing for full immersion into this rich agrarian lifestyle.
By the end of this immersive journey, you'll emerge with a comprehensive understanding of sustainable farming and its cultural implications, all while having had the rare opportunity to directly participate in the livelihoods of local Peruvian families.
There are also options to do a day tour (without any lodging) or to doa multi-day tour that continues on to Machu Picchu.
