To top it all off, we will visit a family that specializes in making traditional candles. These candles represent a symbol within the community's long-standing traditions. Join us for an action-packed day filled with cultural experiences! Our adventure begins with a convenient 9:30 am pick-up from your hotel. After a short 45-minute transfer, we will arrive at our first destination - a traditional candle-making family.
From 10:30 am to 11:30 am, we will witness the fascinating process of candle-making and learn about the symbols and traditions surrounding their use. After that, we'll head over to the weavers' cooperative from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm. Here, we'll be inspired by the history of the cooperative and how it has evolved into a space for community support beyond just textiles. We'll also get a chance to learn about the creation of natural dyes and watch the skilled weavers work their magic on the loom.
After our morning excursions, we'll indulge in a chocolate-making workshop from 1:15 pm to 3:30 pm, led by a traditional cook. Get ready to use the metate, a pre-Hispanic piece where chocolate and mole are made. And what better way to wrap up the day than with a delicious traditional Oaxacan meal with Trini and her family.
We'll depart at 3:45 pm and head back to Oaxaca with a short 45-minute transfer.
