Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain Hike and Weaving Experience with Chari Community

An alternative way to explore Peru's famous Rainbow Mountains! Instead of joining the line of tourist buses at Vinicunca, explore a local Andean community and hike to the less-visited (but equally spectacular) Palcoyo mountain. You'll make a stop at the Chari community to learn traditional weaving and experience the culture of an Andean community firsthand. Then, you'll go on an alternative hike to Palcoyo - a less-visted (but equally spectacular) part of the Rainbow Mountains. After a good workout on the trails, you'll stop back in the Chari community for traditional lunch meal before making the drive back to Cusco.

Traveler Reviews

We had a great time hiking Palcoyyo Mountain and meeting the lovely local women, who made us feel so welcome and kindly offered us lunch. Their handmade wool garments for sale were beautiful too. It was very cool getting an insight into their lives. Wish we could have seen them weaving, but perhaps next time. Big thanks to our guide Carlos as well. He was very knowledgeable and very flexible and accommodating. Thank you!
