Fantastic Experience!

My partner and I did the Float down the Mayan canal and boat tour in February 2022 with Omar as our guide. We had a great time and would recommend this tour to anyone! First, we took the boat through one canal, then got out of the boat and floated down another canal. It felt like floating down an extremely clear and blue lazy river, but all natural. In hindsight, this was our favorite part of the trip because it was peaceful, beautiful, and historical. After that, we got back onto the boat to explore the other lagoons while searching for wildlife. We saw many birds, fish, a crocodile, and several manatees. We really appreciated Omar and the captain circling back several times to make sure we saw the many plants and animals that lived in Sian Ka’an. Omar informed us of what we were doing every step of the way. He was also knowledgeable about the area, flora and fauna, and Mayan history. He seemed to have great rapport with the other captains and guides, and overall made our tour a very pleasant experience. At the end, I ate chicken pibil and my partner ate chicken fajita. Both dishes were fantastic. This tour with Sian Ka'an Community Tours was the best part of our weeklong stay in Tulum. It’s also great that the company is a collective, owned by locals and hires locally. One recommendation is to bring (reef-safe) sunblock as you will be in the sun for several hours.

Gilberto is amazing!

Where do I start?!? This tour was amazing, from the covid procedures to the activities! Gilberto was extremely personable and knowledge (he also went in between speaking english, spanish and french to accomodate everyone on the tour!) He made the entire experience! We started with the canal tour which was amazing! We were able to float in the canal, which was awesome! After floating, we were taken to see the manatees and crocodile (we were able to see both!) Next, we pulled over to a spot on a small beach to walk and explore. The day ended with lunch at an outside restaurant! Throughout the tour we learned a great deal about Mayan culture and history and appreciated the care taken in telling the history in a thoughtful and conscientious way! We absolutely loved Gilberto and would recommend this tour 1000%!
