Background

Social Enterprise started in 2008| Locally Owned with 100% local staff

Deep Community Connections

Lanjia Lodge has worked with the Population & Community Development Association since 2008 to improve local villagers lives. They give a portion of lodge income to the village development bank, which supports community projects such as setting up electricity lines, installing solar panels and a micro-credit fund.

Active Environmental Stewardship

The guest cottages are built in traditional style with thatched roof and bamboo, blending in with the environment. Shampoo and soap used at the lodge are made from natural ingredients. Guests also have chance to reduce their carbon footprint by planting trees at the reforestation site.

Exceptional Quality and Authenticity (Culture)

During the stay, guests will learn how to make Hmong batik (a skill that almost disappeared from the village 8 years ago) and help keep the tradition alive. They also have a chance to see traditional dance performed by Hmong and Lahu villagers.
