A great trip

We were in a small group (4 people) and Pepe, our guide was very knowledgeable. It was a great change from touristy outings and was amazing to see another side of this area. We brought snorkel masks for the float and enjoyed seeing the freshwater fish. We brought our 7 year old daughter and she had a great time too!

Wonderful

We had a wonderful time in family guided by Pepe who was very helpful and gave us a deep insight not only about the archeogical site of Muyl but also about Mayan culture, tradition and about all kinds of living forma in the sian kaan. We had a beautiful relaxing time in the canals and the walk through the wetlands eas something we will remember. The people of Community Tours do a great professional work from the moment they pick you up sharp in time through all the experience, the snacks and food are carefully prepared by mayan women, and they have a nice meeting point where you can buy some mayan crafts and visit theor beautiful butterfly pavillion. Pepe our guide along with Cristian the driver and Alfonso the boat capitan made a greqt team taking us tomthis unforgetable experience.

Highly Recommend Muyil Ruins Float

Our Community Tours guide was knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We loved the different activities along the way. Hiking the ruins, climbing a watch tower, boat ride in the lagoon, float through the connecting channel and stops at the local Community Tours property for lunch and a walk through their garden. Loved it!

Friendly

This was a great excursion into the ruins and jungle and the lagoons and canals. Our guide was Nubia- she guided four of us, two Americans and two French, and patiently conversed with both sets of people very professionally and with enthusiasm. Give the woman a throat lozenge- she had to do double duty the whole day! We didn’t drum up as many birds and monkeys as I’d hoped for, but it wasn't for lack of trying. The ruins and jungle were very atmospheric, the really cool canal float at the end was delightful; my wife said it was the most fun on a tour she’d ever had. I recommend this operation highly.

Nice setup, but much waiting around

The programme was interesting, as was the initial guided tour in the rainforest. We saw the ruins, the view from a high tower and some birds. A nice mix of history and nature, and the guide was a well-informed biologist. Then we got in a boat, but the driver only talked Spanish and we got no translation. The lagoons and canals inbetween were still pretty, though. The floating was really relaxing, a lovely experience! Lunch back at the centre outside of Tulum was delicious (several choices, I had chicken in banana leaf). But then we had to wait for the other group, and when they finally came, it was their turn to eat! We also had to sit around and wait for the van or the boat at different sites. This was annoying, schedule could really be shorter and smoother!

Amazing jungle adventure!

Everything about this tour was fantastic. The tour guide for the day picked us up at our condo and spent the drive to Sian Ka’an talking to us about the ways in which the community is a big part of this experience. We were treated to a delicious breakfast at the community restaurant cooked by the Maya locals. The guide expertly explained all about the flora and fauna that we saw in the jungle as well as the ruins and Mayan culture. We were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife including a spectacular show from a pair of howler monkeys, as well as several herons, egrets, cormorants, and many fish species. The boat ride and float through the jungle was also spectacular and very informative. This was all topped off with a beautifully prepared and scrumptious lunch back at the community center. I highly recommend booking a tour with Lokal Travel!

Highlight of Our Yucatan Trip

My husband, myself, our adult daughters and their partners took a Muyil Ruins and Float in Sian Ka'an Maya Canals that was absolutely the highlight of our week long trip. Benjamin was our guide. He and our driver arrived punctually at our lodging. It was a short trip from Tulum to the visitor center where we had some delicious refreshments and then headed out to tour the site. Benjamin's knowledge of the site was outstanding. He was able to discuss the Mayan culture both ancient and current, speak about the ruins and explain in depth the flora and fauna of the preserve. We had the good luck of seeing and hearing many animals and birds. After our tour, we were taken in a boat to one of the Mayan canals and had a lovely float in the cleanest water imaginable. Perfect temperature. Our visit ended with a delicious Mayan lunch at the visitor center. Dropped off at our lodgings right on time.
