Experience Peruvian culture through food in this market tour and cooking class taught by local chefs. You will have the chance to learn to make one of four options: seafood, chicken, meat, and vegetarian. You'll use traditional ceramic pots for the cooking to give you a very authentic experience. You will be taken on local market tour where you can try local tapas and exotic fruits.
Seafood: The main course will be "Pescado a la Chorrillana" which is made with fried onions, tomatoes, chili pepper, bay leaf, fish broth, and fish fillet. As a starter you will also learn to make Ceviche which the most popular dish among Peruvians! It is made using small pieces of raw fish marinated in fresh lime juice tender onions, boiled sweet potatoes and the option to mix Andean chilis
Chicken: The main course will be "Aji de Pollo", or chili chicken, which is thin strips of chicken served with a spicy, creamy sauce made with non spicy yellow chilis, cheese, milk, and crunchy bread. As a starter, you will learn to make "Causa Limena" which is made of organic yellow potatoes seasoned with lime and hot pepper, and filled with fresh seasonal local veggies.
Meat: The main dish is "Lomo saltado" made with beef tenderloin, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and other spices and is served with fries and rice. As a starter, you will also learn to make "Papa Rellena" which are little balls made of potatoes and are filled with either meat, vegetables, or quinoa and served with "salsa criolla".
Vegetarian: The main course in this lesson is stuffed capsicum, filled with fresh organic vegetable, quinoa, and aromatic herbs from northern region of the country. As a starter you will learn to make "Solterito", meaning single men, which is made with green peas, faba beans, quinoa, and olive oil.
