You will be picked up from the airport and arrive at your hotel in Leh (11,500ft). Today will be to rest and acclimatize yourself to the new environment amidst the picturesque Himalayan landscapes. This is required to adjust your body to the low oxygen levels.
This day serves as your comprehensive introduction to the rich cultural fabric of Ladakh. Explore ancient Buddhist temples and delve into the fascinating history of the erstwhile Ladakh Kingdom. Your understanding of Buddhism, the prevalent religion here, will be enriched.
Get ready for a long day ahead. To reach your destination for the day, you be driven for about 7 hours passing through two high-altitude passes. You can take a couple of breaks in between until you reach the end of road. From here, you'll start your hike to village Skyumpata, which is about an hour away.
Your trek starts at dawn, ascending a mountain pass that peaks at 14,500 ft. A strenuous two-hour climb culminates in a rewarding vista: Lingshed's ancient monastery in the distance. Post-descent, a monastic homestay awaits, where you can rest and replenish.
