Live an unforgettable close-up experience with the teenage mothers and children living in Casa Mantay, located in San Jeronimo, Peru. La Casa Mantay is a transitional home for young mothers between the ages of 12 and 18, and their children, and provides them with orientation and educational workshops. Get to know this big family and the story of Casa Mantay’s founding. Visit the leather workshop and create your personal leather souvenir and finish the visit by having lunch together with the teenage mothers and their children.

Itinerary
10:30AM After getting picked up at your hotel, you will start heading towards Casa Matay by using public transportation, private minivan, or taxi according to your preferences.
11:0AM You will arrive at Casa Mantay. When you arrive, you will be given tea and have time to speak with administrative staff where you will learn more about the organization and its history.
11:30AM You will visit the shelter and walk around with Carmen, the Managing Director.
12:00PM We will stop at "Taller Mantay", the Mantay workshop, where some of the teenage moms work to create leather products. In 2012 the workshop received a prize from the Peruvian National Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) for the high quality of their products.
12:30PM After a short introduction, you will begin your own leather workshop, where you will learn how to orecognize real genuine leather and how to distinguis different leather qualities. The women will also teach you the productions process step by step. Every participant will produce their own little souvenir to take away.
1:30PM After the workshop, you will have lunch with the teenage mothers and their children, and have the opportunity to speak with them.
12:30PM You will leave Casa Mantay and head back to the center of Cusco.
