Welcome to Peru and Lima! Upon arrival, we'll meet you at Lima Airport and continue together to your hotel in Miraflores, where you are free to relax and wander around at your own pace. After check-in, we'll hand you your travel kit and have a short briefing to answer any last-minute questions. Depending on your time of arrival, we have plenty of suggestions for you to make the most of your first day in the city.
Optional activity: If your arrival time permits, take a morning/afternoon walk to iconic sites near your hotel, such as the Amano Museum or the pyramids of Huaca Pucllana (closed on Tuesdays).

Today, we shall leave Lima and drive to Paracas bay, located 3 hours south, along the Panamerican highway. Paracas Bay is the entrance gateway to Paracas National Reserve and the beginning of the coastal deserts in Southern Peru. In the afternoon, at about 3 pm, we'll drive to the California Desert where today’s adventure begins. From here, we shall venture over the dunes aboard powerful sand buggies. We'll be stopping along the way to enjoy the views and, if you like, to practice sandboarding and test our skills in this fun activity. After observing the sunset from the vastness of the desert, we'll drive back to Paracas where we can relax in our charming hotel.

This morning we'll board the fully equipped speedboats to the Ballestas Islands. Nicknamed the "Little Galapagos", the islands are booming with marine wildlife. We'll be sailing around the islands to try and spot the sea lions, penguins, and various other bird species that live here. On route, our boat will make a stop to observe "The Chandelier", a vast, enigmatic figure against a sandy backdrop that can only be seen from the sea. Then, upon returning, we'll drive to the nearby Paracas National Reserve and visit some impressive ocean and desert viewpoints. If you like fresh seafood, we can have lunch in the tiny fishing village of "Lagunillas". Finally, when ready, we'll continue with a two-hour drive to Lunahuana, a small town located in the beautiful Cañete Valley, gateway to the Central Peruvian Andes, and midpoint to reach Nor Yauyos Cochas Landscape Reserve. Our lodge in Lunahuana is an old adobe house that has been restored to offer the best facilities possible while retaining its essence and contact with nature. Before going to bed, we'll enjoy dinner with fresh products from the field.

Today we'll be traveling to Huancaya, our base town, to explore the fantastic Nor Yauyos Cochas Scenic Reserve. We'll be driving east into the mountains on a beautiful 4-hour ascent. On route, we'll see how the arid coastal surroundings slowly change into more colorful landscapes. We'll eventually reach Pikicocha lagoon, where we can stop to stretch our legs and admire the scenery. From here onwards, we shall enjoy a route full of breathtaking lakes, waterfalls, and turquoise lagoons. Upon arriving in the village of Vilca, we take a bridle path for about 1 hour to reach the spectacular Papacocha waterfall. Locals know this area as the “Love Forest” cascades because of its great beauty. Here our guide will explain the importance of forest conservation and the harmonious relationship between man and nature. After enjoying some time in the area, we make our way to Huancaya, where we'll get settled with our hosts, the friendly Lara family. Our day will end with a little exploring around the town's picturesque, cobbled stone streets and colonial bridges.

Today, we'll enjoy an easy hike from Huancaya to the beautiful Carhuayno falls and Hualhua lagoon. We'll be taking a local path across the lagoons and waterfalls. It's also quite common to bump into local villagers working in their fields and terraces, some of which go back to pre-Inca times and are still in use. After a small rest in Carhuayno, we can continue walking for another 20 minutes to reach the Hualhua lagoon. From here we can enjoy astonishing views of the valley. At Hualhua we can use the local boats of the community to paddle all the way to the impressive cascades at the far end of the lagoon. We will have some free time to explore this natural paradise and take landscape photographs. Afterward, we return to Huancaya and, in the evening, light a fire while enjoying some of the local myths and legends.

Today we will visit Laraos, a small community located on the top of a valley filled with thousands of old, prehispanic terraces, many of which are still in use nowadays. After enjoying the impressive views, we’ll meet our hosts in the village. Together we’ll prepare to be part of a traditional Andean culinary experience called Pachamanca, a Quechua word that we can translate to earth pot. A Pachamanca is an old cooking technique where the food is prepared underground using preheated stones and leaves to separate the components from the soil. This dish is a symbolic meal in which local people interact with the “Pachamama” or Mother Earth. We'll be participating in the entire process, from harvesting the tubers, to finding the right herbs and stones. Finally, we'll enjoy our farewell meal with our friends from Laraos, before continuing our journey back to Lima.

We'll be heading into the Andes today. A morning flight leads us to Cusco. If possible, try to book a seat on the left side of the aircraft, as it offers the best views on bright days. Upon arriving, our local guide will be expecting you at the airport, ready to take you to your hotel. When ready, strap on our walking shoes. Our walking tour will take us through some of the most touristic places in the city, such as the Main Square, the Cathedral, and Koricancha Temple. We will also discover ancient streets, local markets, and old neighborhoods to feel the magic of this charming city.

It's time to leave the Cusco city and head towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. As we approach the Inca's valley, we'll stop at Awanacancha to appreciate the different South American Camelids of the Peruvian Andes such as Llamas and Alpacas, emblematic animals from the Inca times. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a nice local restaurant and continue in private transport to the community of Viacha in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Julian and his family will welcome you to the community and invite you to lunch together. Your hosts will show you around their beautiful place and share with you more about their culture. In the Andes, the marital union is an essential celebration in which nature plays an important role. This afternoon, you will take part in an Andean ceremony prepared by your hosts. An Andean priest will start with an offering to the Apus or sacred mountains, and the Pachamama or Mother Earth. In Andean beliefs, Mother Earth will bring prosperity and happiness to the couple. By night, you'll dine with your host family and spend time learning about each other. Finally, head to your cozy glamping accommodation below a starry night between the Andes.

After an exquisite breakfast, the Viacha hosts will take you hiking through the mountains on a quick and beautiful descent to the archaeological site of Pisac and then to the town of Pisac itself along with your private guide, who will be beyond glad to wander around the area with you. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and optionally, take some time to go shopping in the traditional market of Pisac, where local villagers sell authentic products to visitors. Continue to your hotel in the Sacred Valley and relax the rest of the day.

Machu Picchu, here we come! The morning we’ll enjoy a train journey to Aguas Calientes, a spectacle in itself as we'll be able to appreciate the changing landscape from green fields and eucalyptus forests to lush jungle, always traveling beside the meandering Urubamba River. Upon arriving, we'll take a 30-minute bus up to Machu Picchu, surrounded by an impressive mountain setting. Once here, you'll enjoy your first views of the fantastic scenery while we share with you an introduction to the Inca site before start exploring every corner of the lost Inca citadel. The afternoon is a great time to take our guided tour around the site since many travelers may have left. Additionally, you will get to visit a local butterfly farm in the village, where you will observe and learn about different species of butterflies found in the area. This is part of the butterfly reproduction program that has been put in place and these species are released back into nature once they reach maturity so that their population can increase. At the appropriate time, you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where your private transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel after this long but fun day.

Today you’ll have the entire day to explore the city on your own. Cusco is alive, and you can find activities according to your interests. If you would like to take a short walk, you could head uphill to the Cristo Blanco viewpoint or San Cristobal convent, both perfect for watching a beautiful sunset. You could also visit some local museums, several from natural history to art. Take a walk around Cuesta San Blas in search of local workshops and galleries. Some of the most renowned are Hilario Mendivil and Maximo Laura, among many other impressive art proposals. Finally, a night in Cusco is the perfect opportunity to see the stars and constellations.
Optional morning/evening activities: Visit an artisan's workshop in the San Blas neighborhood, Hike to Inkilltambo, Biking adventure to Southern Valley, folkloric show, and live Andean music with buffet dinner.

Today, we'll go to the local airport to board our flight to Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to Peru's Southern Amazon and Tambopata National Reserve. On arrival, our jungle specialist guide will welcome us and drive to the local office to leave any excess luggage. Next, we'll continue our drive for an hour to the local port to board our motorboat to the lodge. Join a 1-hour bus and a 2.5 boat journey to the lodge. Your first taste of the Amazon culinary will be in the river while you leave the city to enjoy the amazing jungle landscapes. Upon arrival, the manager will welcome us and brief us on primary navigation and security tips. We'll have some free time to relax and, in the evening, we can join the Jungle Night Walk. This activity will give you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the nocturnal wonders of the Amazon Rainforest.

Today, we will prepare ourselves to choose between the 25 excursions available at TRC. We can do 3 or 4 activities per day, depending on the duration of the ones you select. For today, we suggest joining the Chuncho Clay Lick and the Monkey Search excursions. After breakfast, we'll start our boat trip to El Chuncho. This Clay lick probably attracts more large macaws than any other clay lick in the world and will give us the chance to observe dozens of large macaws feeding on the sodium-rich clays at the riverbank. This afternoon, you can join a fascinating excursion, the Monkey search. We will embark on a short walk along the floodplain forest and try to hear most of the sounds and noises surrounding us. We will be able to find out which species those sounds correspond with the help of our guide. If we are lucky enough, we may spot a Red Howler monkey in its natural habitat! Finally, we will return to our lodge to relax for the rest of the day, or if you wish, chose another exciting activity for tonight!

Today, we will continue exploring the Tambopata Reserve we will prepare ourselves to choose between the 25 excursions available at TRC. We can do 3 or 4 activities per day, depending on the duration of the ones you select. For today, we recommend joining the Parrot Clay Lick, Floodplain trails, Pond Platform, and Night walk activities. On clear mornings, we can spot large macaws and hundreds of parrots congregate in a colorful spectacle at the nearby Macaw Clay Lick. Early after sunrise, we will observe Green-winged, Scarlet, and Blue-and-gold Macaws, and several species of smaller parrots that descend to ingest clay from the cliff. After breakfast at the lodge, you can go for a walk through a 5 km floodplain trail. We will immerse ourselves in the prototypical rainforest with gigantic trees such as figs, ceibas, and shihuahuacos grow amidst creeks and ponds. Here, we will look for Squirrels, Brown Capuchin, Spider Monkeys, and peccaries. In the afternoon, go to a pond platform to look for multiple species such as hoatzins, muscovy duck, oropéndolas, and flycatchers. Later, if you still have the energy, you can join the night walk to try and spot some wildlife.

After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to our Amazonian friends. This morning, we will board our boats back to Puerto Maldonado and drive to the airport.
