Visit the local Chari community to eat an authentic Andean breakfast before hiking to the famous Vinicunca - better known as "Rainbow Mountain." In addition to the spectacular site of the colorful terrain, you'll also get fantastic views of Apu Ausangate and the surrounding Andes. After a good workout on the trails, you'll stop back in the Chari community for another home-cooked meal before making the drive back to Cusco.
05:00AM Pick up from your hotel in Cusco and start heading towawrds Checacupe.
07:30AM Arrival to the Andean community of Chari in Checacupe and receive a welcome by the association of Weavers "Pallay Lliqlla".
07:50AM The Ladies of "Pallay Lliqlla" will serve you a rich breakfast based on local foods.
08:30AM Without saying goodbye to the community members of Chari (you'll see them after the hike), you will follow their travel through Pitumarca, a district with beautiful landscapes.
10:00AM Then you will pass by the villages of Chillca, Japura and Hanchipata, traditionally inhabited by shepherds of llamas and alpacas and known as the guardians of the Ausangate. You will begin your hike in a place called Kayrahuiri at an altitude of 4930 meters above sea level. From there you will walk about 2 hours (approx. 5 km). Along the way there will be fantastic views of the Apu Ausangate and a breathtaking scenery.
11:40AM From the foot of the mountain of seven colors it will be only 400 meters to reach its summit at a height of approx. 5100 meters above sea level, but those meters are the hardest and of a steep ascent.
12:00PM You will arrive at the crest of the Rainbow Mountain where you will have enough time to enjoy the beautiful view and/or take photos. Then you will undertake the walk back.
2:30PM By bus you will go to Chari again (arrival at 4:10 approx.), where you will eat a delicious meal prepared by the community members and have time to relax and reflect on the experience.
5:30PM Return to Cusco, where you will arrive at approximately 8:00PM.
