This caving and waterfall adventure will take you to a remote community called Cuevas de Se'tzol where you will embark on a 4 hour guided tour with members of the community to explore caves and a pristine river system where you will be able to go on a short inner tube ride through a cave. Las Conchas a multi layered set of waterfalls and swimming holes is nearby. You will head to Las Conchas for an afternoon to enjoy the crystal clear water and if you're adventurous enough take a plunge from the top of a 33 foot waterfall. You will spend the night at family owned Hotel Villa Santa Elena in nearby Chahal.

You will arrive to Hotel Villa Santa Elena, enjoy a freshly prepared meal, and rest to prepare yourself for a day of caving, tubing, and swimming.
After an early breakfast your guide will meet you at the hotel and you will head to Cuevas de Se'tzol where you will embark on a half hour hike through the jungle to get to the community of Se'tzol. You will visit 3 caves which are open to the public (there are 25 total caves in the entire system), heading deep into the caves with a headlamp where you will see different formations of stalagmites and stalactites.
After visiting the caves you will head to the river where you will jump in and tube through a small cave ending your tubing adventure in a beautiful swimming hole.
Lunch will then be served in the community, most likely the traditional chicken soup ('caldo de gallina') or for vegetarians an assortment of local vegetables, rice, and tortillas. You will have the opportunity to hike around the community after lunch to see other parts of the river and natural wonders that make the Se'tzol community special.
After leaving Se'tzol, you will spend the afternoon at Las Conchas, a waterfall and swimming hole paradise where you will be able to enjoy the free flowing waters of this beautiful location. There's a 33 foot waterfall you can jump off of if you are craving extra adrenaline.
After a full day of adventures you will head back to Hotel Villa Santa Elena for some dinner and rest.
A magical place

My family and I stayed at Hotel Villa Santa Elena for Easter. Since I contacted them to make the reservation I received good attention and they gave me the information requested. The stay was pleasant, the hotel is clean, safe and the staff friendly. Very tasty food and very affordable prices. I invite you to plan a trip to Chahal, Alta Verapaz and know the National Park Las Conchas and Caves of Setzol. Beautiful places of my beautiful Guatemala.
