Sian Ka'an Wildlife Adventure

Sian Ka'an Reserve, Mexico

Sian Ka'an Wildlife Adventure

Join us on a laguna boat tour of Sian Ka'an and discover the wonders of this incredible destination. We'll take you on a 56 km (35 miles) road strip covered in coastal vegetation, with the Caribbean Sea on one side and Ascension Bay on the other. Along the way, you'll see reptiles like crocodiles and sea turtles, as well as a wide variety of birds like frigates, pelicans, and cormorants.

If conditions allow, we'll take you snorkeling in the Mesoamerican reef - the second largest in the world - where you'll be amazed by the incredible diversity of fish and coral. And when it's time to relax, we'll visit a beautiful sandbar that locals refer to as "the world's largest swimming pool".

Discover the breathtaking beauty of Sian Ka'an, one of the largest protected areas in México. In the Yucatec Mayan language, Sian Ka'an means "where the sky is born", and it's not hard to see why. This vast expanse of 6520 km² (1.6 million acres) is home to an incredible array of biodiversity, making it a must-see destination for nature enthusiasts.

As part of the UNESCO program "Man and Biosphere", Sian Ka'an is dedicated to conservation, research, and education to promote sustainable development. This means that visitors can participate in economic activities like fishing, seasonal agriculture, and tourism, all while preserving the area's natural beauty for generations to come.

At the heart of Sian Ka'an lies the charming town of Punta Allen, home to just 800 people. Here, you'll find a unique blend of Caribbean culture and natural wonders. Fishing for lobster is the main source of income, but tourism has also become increasingly important. And it's not hard to see why - Punta Allen is the perfect base for exploring the diverse marine ecosystems of the Caribbean Sea.

To top it all off, we'll finish with a delicious Caribbean lunch, giving you a taste of the local cuisine. Join us in Sian Ka'an today and experience the magic of this incredible destination for yourself!

Lots of Wildlife, Well Worth the Price!

I would recommend this tour to anyone traveling to the Yucatan Peninsula. The tour guides were well educated and always willing to answer questions! They also had their eyes open and were ready to point out any wildlife they saw and even slow down so we could take pictures of them. The buffet meal was well worth the trip and had more than enough food for everyone. We also appreciated the time after the meal to explore for a few minutes on the beach before getting back on the boat. If you have a snorkel mask, definitely bring it along, as you'll want to use it when you make the stop. The day trip version is definitely your best option, as you'll even have enough time to look for wildlife and experience the biosphere. Had we been on a shorter tour I am sure we would not have seen half the wildlife we did or have time to watch the dolphins and see one with its mom. It also felt very laid back, which was very nice. Everyone with this tour travel company was extremely courteous. If going back with anyone else, I would be sure to take them to this excursion!

Stellar Tour by an Amazing Company that Values Relationships

The company walks their talk. They hire environmentally knowledgeable and conscious tour guides that are also very personable and compassionate. We learned so much about the biosphere wildlife and the environment in general and got up close experiences with manatees, dolphins, fish and birds. Sadly, it was windy and the water was very choppy, so we couldn’t go snorkeling in coral reefs. This company also listens and does what they can to address any concerns. We hired them to pick us up at our hotel, which was some distance away. They had a full tour (12 people) and since we were the farthest out, there were lots of pickups after us. We had a very early pickup time and spent a lot of time in the shuttle before the tour started. They listened to our concerns and did what they could to make things right. They even reorganizing our return to ensure we were back at our hotel in time to get some rest, clean up and eat before our workshop started that evening (which was the reason we were in town). The people at Mexico Kan Tours really value relationships - to their customers and to the environment. I would highly recommend this company and this tour.
